There are many reasons why PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome is more common. Some of these reasons include:

      * **Diet and Lifestyle Changes:** The Western diet is high in processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats, all of which can contribute to insulin resistance, a key cause of PCOS. Additionally, women today are more likely to be overweight or obese than in the past, and obesity is also a risk factor for PCOS.
      * **Environmental factors:** Some studies suggest that environmental factors, such as exposure to endocrine disruptors, may play a role in the development of PCOS. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with the body’s normal hormone production and function.
      * **Genetics:** PCOS is a genetic disorder, and women who have a family history of the condition are at increased risk of developing it themselves.

The prevalence of PCOS is higher in South Asia than in East Asia. This can be due to a number of reasons, including:

      * **Genetics:** South Asian and East Asian women may have genetic differences that make South Asian women more likely to develop PCOS.
      * **Diet and Lifestyle:** South Asian women are more likely to be overweight or obese than East Asian women, and obesity is a risk factor for PCOS. Additionally, South Asian women are more likely to have a diet high in processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats, which can contribute to insulin resistance.
      * **Environmental factors:** It is possible that environmental factors, such as exposure to endocrine disruptors, may be more common in South Asia than in East Asia.

PCOS is a complex disorder with many contributing factors. It is important to work with a healthcare provider to manage the symptoms of PCOS and prevent complications.

Here are some tips for managing PCOS:

      * **Weight loss:** If you are overweight or obese, losing a small amount of weight may help improve your symptoms.
      * **Eat a healthy diet:** A healthy diet includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. It is also important to limit your intake of processed foods, sugar and unhealthy fats.
      * **Exercise regularly:** Exercise helps improve insulin sensitivity and can help you lose weight. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week.
*** Get enough sleep:** Getting enough sleep helps regulate your hormones and can improve your overall health. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
      * **Manage stress:** Stress can worsen PCOS symptoms. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as yoga, meditation or spending time in nature.
      * **Take medication:** If your symptoms are severe, your healthcare provider may prescribe medication to help you manage them.

By following these tips, you can improve your symptoms and prevent complications of PCOS.
