Human sex is determined from birth. Sex can be male, female. If the sex is male, in most cases it grows up and expresses masculine characteristics. But if he exhibits feminine features, and himself as a woman, he is transgender. Likewise, a famale is transgender if he has masculine characteristics and considers himself male. That is, gender is the identity given by the society, and sex is the identity born.
Usually transsexuals are operated on (maybe naturally), but transgenders do not require surgery.
And hijras are a community in some countries, usually they self-identify as transgender or non-binary (many of them are intersex), they can be male/female/anything else, they are extortionists and they usually live in their own community.
