Blinking is an automatic process. On average, we blink once every 6 seconds.
Now let’s come to why the eyes blink. There are many lacrimal glands under the upper eyelids. They are activated when the eyelids are closed and produce a salty fluid. It always keeps the eyes wet. If this fluid is secreted in excess, it turns into tears.
Again the blinking process is a protective mechanism of the eyes. For example, if dust or dirt enters the eye, it is washed away by the fluid that is released when the eye is squeezed. Again it is seen that a person blinks every second it is due to eye problems.
