The packing density of a PV module is defined as the percentage of the cell area in the entire module area.
The packing density affects the output power of the module i.e. the efficiency of cells and modules is area related.
The packing density depends on the shape of the solar cells used. For example single crystalline solar cells are round or semi-square, while multi crystalline silicon wafers are usually square.
