Normally, two types of insulin are secreted in our body. A type of insulin will be released even if you are fasting all day to control the glucose that the body produces on its own during fasting. This insulin is called basal insulin.
Again when we eat food, whatever food it is, whatever amount, that food is stored as glucose in the body. When glucose enters the blood after eating, another insulin is released from the pancreas to control it. This insulin is called bolus insulin, which controls postprandial glucose.
