Factors on which survival depends on-
Air flow: Increased air flow over the liquid results in faster evaporation.
Surface area of the liquid: The greater the surface area of the liquid, the faster the evaporation.
Nature of liquid: Different liquids have different rates of evaporation. The lower the boiling point of the liquid, the higher the rate of evaporation. Evaporation rate of volatile liquid is maximum.
Pressure on the liquid: As the atmospheric pressure on the liquid increases, the rate of evaporation decreases. Evaporation rate increases as pressure decreases. Evaporation rate is maximum in vacuum.
Warmth of the liquid and the air adjacent to the liquid: Evaporation is faster when the temperature of the liquid and the air adjacent to the liquid increases.
Dryness of the air: The drier the air above the liquid, i.e. the less water vapor there is in the air, the faster the evaporation.
[Wet clothes dry quickly because the air is dry in winter.]
