Conditions for optical isomerism:
– The compound should be optically active.
-If any organic compound contains chiral carbon, then the molecule will be asymmetrical and will exhibit optical activity.
-Optically active compound rotates plane polarized light to different directions.
-Two configurations are created which act as mirror images of each other and not superimposable.
