Hard shoulder.
1. The shoulders formed by paving outwards on both sides of the original pavement are called hard shoulders.
2. The ratio of hard shoulder is usually from 1.2 to 1.5.
3. Hard shoulder can carry more load.
Soft shoulder
1. On both sides of the original pavement, the part of the soil or sand that makes the shoulder on the outside is called soft shoulder.
2. The problem of soft shoulder is usually the same as that of hard shoulder on both sides.
3. Soft shoulder cannot bear more load like Hard shoulder.
