Magnetic force lines
When a magnet is brought next to another magnet, they attract or repel each other. Where like poles attract each other and opposite poles repel each other. Why and how this contactless force of attraction or repulsion works. Physicists came up with the concept of lines of force in magnets to explain this. Also, the poles of two magnets exert forces on each other through imaginary lines of force. These imaginary lines of force are the lines of force of the magnet.
Magnetic field lines can be defined as-
When an isolated north pole is placed in a pearl position in a magnetic field, the path the pole travels is called a magnetic field line.
With the help of these magnetic field lines, the strength and direction of the magnetic field is known.
