Elements that have the same number of neutrons but different atomic numbers and mass numbers are called isotones.
For example-
The atomic number of silicon (Si) is 14. Mass number is 30. Then number of neutrons = 30-14 = 16.
Atomic number of Phosphorus (P) ā 15. Mass number is 31. Then number of neutrons = 31-15 = 16.
Here their number of neutrons is equal.
Isotone can be remembered by the last letter ānā ā the number of neutrons is equal.
