Dimension and dimension equation
Dimension
The index of the basic quantities present in a physical quantity is called the magnitude of that quantity. For example, velocity is a physical quantity. Its level – LT-1. It can be understood through this dimension of velocity, there are two basic equations of velocity and time.
Dimensional equation
Magnitude equation is a mathematical equation, with the help of which the magnitude of a mathematical equation can be expressed. So the equation with the help of which the magnitude of any quantity is expressed or determined is called the magnitude equation.
Determining the dimension
We need to know the dimensions of the three basic equations in determining the dimensions. They are-
Mass = M
Length = L
Time (Time) = T
Now, the magnitude of the required sum must be determined, it must be expressed through the basic sums in it. After that, if the dimensions of the basic equations are properly set, the dimensions of the equation will be found. For example-
Momentum = Mass * Velocity = Mass * (Distance / Time) = M.(L/T) = MLT-1 .
In this way, we can determine the value of any profit.
