To perpetuate heredity.
The bee will eventually die anyway, at least its genes won’t be lost if it dies leaving some offspring. This is how every living thing evolved. If an organism did not have this propensity to leave offspring, we would not have the species we see today.
They are not afraid of death at all. It takes about 1100 stings to kill a human. 1,100 bees travel 90,000 miles to collect approximately 1 kg of honey. Which is about three times the orbit of Chad!
If you calculate the flowers, it can be seen that to collect 1 kg of honey, about 4 million flowers have to be touched with pollen. If everything goes well, about 55 kg of honey is collected in a good season. From these data we can understand how hard worker bees are.
On the other hand, the queen bee only eats and eggs!
The queen lays 1500 to 2500 eggs per day. The nature of male bees is quite peculiar. They do no work in life, even the worker bees have to feed them. Their only goal in life is to meet the queen bee!
During the mating season every day at noon the most capable male bees of the chak gather in a certain place called the male congregation!
At the same time, the queen bee leaves the chaff for what is called “the meeting flight”.
The queen bee suddenly enters the male congregation area. As soon as she arrives, she emits a special scent, which excites hundreds of male bees. Soon after, the queen bee mates with the male of choice in flight. Queen bees can mate with up to 18-20 male bees on a regular basis!
Strangely enough, during mating, the male bee’s endopherus or genital organ ruptures and the male bee dies immediately. That is why this meeting is called “The Dramatic Sexual Suicide”.
A hive consists of only one queen bee. The hive is built around the queen.
If a female bee is born from an egg, the worker bees hide the baby female bees from the queen. If the queen notices, the baby wife bee is sure to die. When the baby queen bee grows up, the two queens fight. It opens two paths. Either die in battle (one kills the other and takes control of the hive) or the two separate and build two separate hives.
If a queen bee unexpectedly dies, the news is known to all the worker bees within 15 minutes and they collectively take the initiative to create a new queen bee.
There are some other strange facts, which you will surely be surprised to know, it takes 20 lakh flowers to make 500 grams of honey. A worker bee can produce half a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime. Another interesting thing is that honey is the only food in the world that never rots!!!
